Charity Changa

Charity Changa is from Harare, Zimbabwe and was the 2002 recipient of the Helen Calvert Writers Award from the Maier Museum of Art at Randolph-Macon Woman's College in VA, where she is currently pursuing a Creative Writing degree. She has written many ekphrastic poems on the subject of Colleen Browning's painting Red Umbrella, part of the Maier Museum's permanent collection. The poem CB contemplates more than art -- it converses with artist Colleen Browning and considers other of her paintings besides the haunting Red Umbrella, which she painted after she was attacked and knifed in the face.
