Barry Jay Kaplan, who studied with Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. at the University of Iowa, has written plays that were produced in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. Landscape of Desire (published by Smith and Krause) was the American representative to the 25th National Playwrights Conference of Australia. Bananas and Water won the Whitfield Cooke Best Play of the Year award. Like Love was part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival in 2007.
Other of his stories were published in 2007 in Bryant Literary Review, Descant, Upstreet, Perigee and Brink. The short story “His Wife” was nominated for a 2007 Pushcart Prize by Apple Valley Review.
