dream fatigue

a complicated participation they are, dreams,
giving, however, a certain emancipation
from cause and effect,
from laws that allow
the various strands of here and now
to weave design
in subtle webs
of variegated threads
dreams day born
shorn of mysteries that seep
the cracks of night
and grow in grunting angles
in the underbrush of sleep
in dreams,
fatiguing
