A Poem For All the Eyes That Turned the Other Way
by David LaBounty

and yes,

they've rubbed
your face
in your
genocides and
blood

and yes,

it's been said
that blood
is thicker
than water

but it takes
a heart to
pump that blood

and you've
pumped water
from a well
with its handle
painted metal
and rust

but you've
never pumped
a heart, never,

ever

got one to move.
