Slips of the Soul
by Yvette A. Schnoeker-Shorb

There are souls of this earth
who die without ritual,
without transcendence;
they leave quietly,
not caring who knows
or that the world goes on
without them. They die
before others notice
they are gone.
People talk to them
for years, never realizing
conversations with the dead
are not always apparent.
